What are the Program Requirements?

The Master Mentor Teaching Certificate program consists of a series of four, graduate-level courses that prepare participants to guide and coach new teachers.  Upon successful completion of the fifteen semester hours, participants will receive a Texas Tech University endorsed certificate.  Courses will be offered each each long semester and at least one summer session.  Generally, participants can complete the degree in four semesters.   Those who wish to continue their graduate studies in Education, may request these credit hours be transferred/applied to their selected programs.

Required Courses:

EDCI 5333.  Improving the Teaching of Thinking (3:3:0).  Provides an instructional framework for teaching specific thinking skills and for developing and nurturing the teaching of skillful and reflective thinking in all content areas (K-12).

EDCI 5335.  Models of Teaching (3:3:0).  Selected models or approaches to teaching are described, demonstrated, and practiced.  Emphasis is placed on expanding the repertoire of teaching skills.

EDCI 6303.  Advanced Seminar in Curriculum and Instruction (3:3:0).  Critical analysis and design of research in selected curriculum areas.  May be repeated for credit.

EDCI 6393.  Advanced Practicum in Curriculum and Instruction (3:3:0).  A supervised laboratory or field experience in a curricular area; includes assessment, planning, instruction, and evaluation.  May be repeated for credit.
