Susan D. Myers received
her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education from
George Peabody College for Teachers of Vanderbilt University in 1979 and
her Master's of Education in Student Personnel and Counseling from Texas
Christian University in 1982. She taught at the elementary and secondary
level and was a school guidance counselor for 18 years in Texas public
schools. In 1999 she received her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from
the University of West Florida. Dr. Myers is currently a faculty member
at Texas Tech University in the secondary teacher education program. She
teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in curriculum and instruction.
Dr. Myers is a partner in the Professional Development School network
through Texas Tech’s College of Education. Her research interests include
mentoring new teachers, characteristics of effective mentoring, and
induction. Dr. Myers also serves on university and college committees, and
is the scholarship chair for Lubbock’s West Texas Watercolor Society.
